How we got here
Job boards were not built with music technology in mind. That much was obvious to anyone who'd ever searched "audio engineer" on a general platform and waded through live sound gigs, podcast editing contracts, and AV technician roles before finding a single software position worth applying to. The signal-to-noise ratio was brutal.
MusicTechJobs.io exists because this industry is specific enough to deserve its own space. The companies here — writing DSP algorithms, designing synthesiser firmware, building streaming infrastructure, developing DAW plugins — have distinct hiring needs. The people they want to hire think in terms of sample rates and latency budgets, not generic tech stacks. A niche board that understands the difference isn't a luxury. It's just more useful.
We started with a straightforward brief: make it faster for the right candidate to find the right role, and easier for music technology companies to find people who already speak the language. Everything on the site — the job categories, the search filters, the employer tools — follows from that.
